Some Things Shouldn't Be...and if They Be, They Shouldn't Be on Craigslist

A woman actually advertised on there for a hit-man to kill her lover's wife. That's about as intelligent as the guy who called the cops while being robbed during a drug deal. I mean, murder and drug dealing are clearly not intelligent things to begin with but Jesus.

From Yahoo News:

"The defendant asked two of the respondents via e-mail to "eradicate" the victim and provided the victim's name, age and employment address. In one correspondence, she said she was looking for "silent assassins" and offered to pay $5,000 to kill the victim, who was not identified by the court."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080419/us_nm/craigslist_assassin_dc;_ylt=Ai5msoJmUIDk3PEhyqsYUYBvzwcF

Here's a clue: Craigslist is not 'silent'.

Seriously, she's obviously nuts and when you read the story you see it even more clearly. It appears to have been mostly an on-line relationship/was long distance - even more insane.

Speaking of Jail, Rapper Foxy Brown is Out

After serving 8 mos. From Yahoo News:

"Brown...was sentenced in September 2007 to a year in jail for violating the terms of her probation after she was accused of hitting a woman with a cell phone. She was on probation for an August 2004 attack on two manicurists at a Manhattan nail salon. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in the 2004 incident."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080419/ap_on_en_mu/people_foxy_brown;_ylt=Ar1bEPKQMmDRX_FB8NYQggFvzwcF

That's a long time to be in jail for nails man. No seriously, it seems like a long time for fighting. However, I don't know how badly she hurt the people. Ain't the wild west anymore, can't go around beating people up 'cause they make you mad. But still, 8 mos? Does anyone know what amt. of damage she did?

Deathbed Confession Frees Innocent Man Jailed in Chi for 26 Years - Man in Sri Lanka Unjustly Jailed for 50 Years

From the AP:

"Two attorneys recently revealed that their former client, Andrew Wilson, admitted to committing the crime that has sent Logan to prison, but attorney-client privilege had kept them from coming forward.

"Wilson's death last year allowed the attorneys to unseal an affidavit stating that Logan was not responsible for the fatal shooting of security guard Lloyd Wickliffe at a McDonald's restaurant in January 1982.

Dale Coventry, one of the attorneys who signed the affidavit, said Friday night that he hopes prosecutors will acknowledge they went in the wrong direction with the case."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080419/ap_on_re_us/the26_year_silence;_ylt=Ag0Vob3N..y_1dyEjgd.tqBvzwcF

I understand attorney client privilege, but how could those guys live with themselves knowing that? How about attorney client urging to do the right thing? Anonymous tip anyone?

Jesus, 26 years in Cook County Jail - "Only innocent man in Shawshank..." indeed. And the family still had to come up with $1,000 bond.

And in Sri Lanka, from Yahoo News:

"Arrested for killing his father late one night in 1958, James was ruled mentally ill by a judge, sent to an asylum for the criminally insane — and forgotten.

Decades after his doctors pronounced him cured, he remained trapped in a criminal justice nightmare. The hospital could only release him to the prisons authority. The prisons authority could only pick him up under a court order. The courts never called for him because they couldn't find his file.

Most of his relatives abandoned him, believing he was crazy.

James never stood trial, never even had a bail hearing, yet he spent 50 years of his life a prisoner."

The kicker - his father wasn't murdered. And there are others like James, still lost in the shuffle.

Rising Fuel Costs =Rising Food Costs

Soon we won't be able to get to work to earn the money to buy the food we can't really afford even after working. And it's not just in the U.S., as an earlier post reflects. Even if you're a mad dictator, what good does it do to dictate a country of starved people? I am failing to see any of the logic here. Oh, forgot, a few people get really, really rich, that's right. And starving, desperate people are easier to control. Yea, that must be the general idea.

From Reuters:

"Carter has angered the Israeli government over plans to meet Hamas' top leader, Khaled Meshaal, in Syria, and for describing Israeli policy in the occupied Palestinian territories as "a system of apartheid" in a 2006 book.

"Carter, who brokered Israel's first peace treaty with an Arab neighbor, Egypt, signed in 1979, met Israel's ceremonial president Shimon Peres on Sunday but was shunned by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other policymakers.

"Shaer told Reuters he met one-on-one with Carter and they discussed efforts to broker an unofficial truce between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip.

"Political Silly Season" Good One Barack

He was accused of being elitist. They can't come up with anything real to diminsh him because he's bad-ass. So the opponents grab for straws...as I said in a poem once, "like a suicide with second thoughts grabs for air..."

Seriously guys, he's not elitist. He spent his career representing those who otherwise have a hard time being heard. He's under the gun:

"Obama has come under fire by opponents after he told an audience in San Francisco last week that economic problems led voters in some small towns to become "bitter" and "cling to guns or religion" as an outlet for their frustrations."

Well, they do. His opponents must not know what people in small towns can be like. Hey, isn't that elitist?

Kentucky Fried Weed?

Police find pot in an order of fried chicken: http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/16/chicken.marijuana.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Regrettably, the extreme humor of police being handed such an order by accident is absent. A guy did, however, think that would be the best place to hide it when he got pulled over. Wrong answer. For some reason, didn't think of hiding the ecstasy in his pocket.

Sounds like stoned reasoning to me...fried chicken, paranoid about one thing yet forgetting another...creating an otherwise avoidable search-umstance...

And it seems to have been, police said they pulled him because they smelled weed coming from the car.

X-Ray Vision Sans Superman

"GENEVA (Reuters) - British physicist Peter Higgs said on Monday it should soon be possible to prove the existence of a force which gives mass to the universe and makes life possible --

Bush Moves to Force Vote on Free Trade With Columbia

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/04/07/israel.threats/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Now he's one who does not know to watch his speed when driving that train...

From CNN:

"...Bush said he signed a letter giving Congress 90 working days to vote on the agreement, which would allow goods to move between the United States and Colombia without being taxed.

"Bush said the agreement would "advance America's national security interests in a critical region" and "strengthen a courageous ally in our hemisphere," as well as help the U.S. economy...

"Bush said he decided to force Congress to take up the measure because "need for this agreement is too urgent; the stakes for our national security are too high to allow this year to end without a vote."

You know, this is just not cool. The President forcing Congress to bend to his will isn't my idea of a Democracy.

Olympic Torch Relay Meeting With Protests

Due to China's human rights record: http://sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=olymp/news/BON4143314.htm 25 Protesters in London arrested for trying to extinguish the flame. It was finally put out by officials in Paris. Protesters have been following the mythic journey since March 24. Will be in San Francisco on Wed., more protests expected of course.

I don't know... the whole thing just makes me sad really. On several levels. I agree on the protest side re. China, at the same time, the Olympics are ... well, I mean they're the Olympics and it's the legendary torch. That is the way to make the biggest point, however, and I was not at all pleased with the blocking athletes from speaking on issues (see older blog)...
