Of Christmas with the Dancing Outlaw, Jesco White and Cuzn Wildweed, who appeared in my last feature, Hunchin' at the Crossroads
Jesco gathered a cult following after PBS filmed a documentery about him, "The Dancing Outlaw", along with his family, (notorious for both musical ability and outlaw, hillbilly behavior), are the subject of a song by Hank Williams III, "The Legend of D. Ray White". His father, D. Ray White, famous for his mountain dancing, was filmed by Mike Seeger in the documentary, "Talking Feet". (Check out my interview with Mr. Seeger also on GratefulWeb.)
He's got his own CD out now, has recently recorded more with Hank III at Hank Williams, Jr.'s cabin, is the subject of a film premiering at Sundance now, "White Lightening, (featuring Carrie Fisher as his almost equally notorious sister, Mamie), has an MTV reality show based on him coming up soon and, as if that's not quite enough for one dancing outlaw to do, is also soon appearing in "It Came from Trafalgar", a horror film that also stars Hank Williams III and his former bass player, Joe Buck.
Check more about him out at his new website and on on MySpace
A full story (well, as much as I can print anyway), about my adventures with him in Boone Co. coming very soon to GratefulWeb.
